”Tre piccole storie vegetali”
“Three Little Plant Stories” is an editorial artifact that tells a plant story. As the subject of my story, I chose stramonium, a highly poisonous plant due to the high concentration of powerful alkaloids. Every part of the plant can cause a narcotic and hallucinogenic effect. In this editorial project, this plant is analyzed in relation to its growth in the territory of Sardinia and its narcotic use by Sardinian shamans. A series of island traditions connected with the ritual of shamanism are introduced in the project. Thanks to the research I have collected the necessary materials to elaborate a series of five posters, which are born from the union of the visual imagery associated with shamanism with iconographic motifs peculiar to Sardinian culture. The stramonium, the plant on which this research is based, is the key to interpretation with which each poster was created: symbols of popular iconography combine with shamanic customs in Sardinia, allowing the reader to perceive these two worlds together. Moreover, the psychedelic effect will allow the reader to perceive the great experience of the ecstatic journey, a fundamental element in shamanic reality. These posters want to unite these two worlds in a relationship between past and present, between folklore and shamanism.
